I was fortunate enough to catch a screening of Derrick Comedy‘s first feature film, Mystery Team, a few weeks ago – and let me tell you: It is fantastic.
The film tells the story of a trio of boyish and naive high school seniors who still run a neighborhood detective service and are forced into adulthood when they try to solve a real murder. Think of it as the characters from an Encyclopedia Brown book, thrown into the grit and grime of a real homicide.
Mystery Team is fresh, unique, fun, and (most impressively) it’s a solid laugh (or more) a minute.
Here’s the trailer:
Surprisingly, the film has had a hard time finding distribution. But, it’s only a matter of time. Once someone is smart enough to buy it, you’ll get a chance to see it.
