Old folks complain; love Tremendosaur anyway!

posted by Jacob in old people vs. technology, press, secret admirer, shorts February 20th, 2008

We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback about our latest short, Secret Admirer, however, some of our more middle-aged fans are worried that we’re heading down a road of “stupid puppet sex jokes” that are “inaccessible to [the] old folks.”

Well, just as a reminder that Tremendosaur cares very much about the 40+ demographic, we’d like to share one older fan’s praise (and rigorous analysis) of Old People vs. Technology.

YouTube is supposed to be as much about the makers of the videos as it is about the videos themselves, so I decided to send the makers an email, to bond a bit and to explore what I see as common thematic ground. I wanted to ask how they came to choose that topic, and to ask if those elders who are so eloquently flailing around are in one of their families.

That quote’s just the tip of the iceberg. On her blog, “Came of Age Before Computers,” Tremendopal Nancy Strider examines ‘Old People vs. Technology’ in a 1000 word, stream-of-consciousness essay in which (among other things) she fantasizes about the “young man onscreen” and his relationship with his grandparents.

Whoa, where have we been? Working on tons of new stuff, that’s where. But before we reveal any of the fun surprises we’ve got under our belt, we filmed a quick Valentine’s Day short for you guys.

And since Valentine’s Day also happens to be my birthday, you can think of this as a birthday gift. A birthday gift from me to you on my birthday.

No time for logic, watch the short!
